Man charged over cannabis seizure in Aberdeen

A man has appeared in court charged in connection with cannabis plants seized from a property in Aberdeen.

Officers discovered the plants following a raid in the Logie area of the city.

The seizure brings the total number of cannabis cultivations detected by the force so far this year to 32. The drugs have an estimated value of up to £210,000.

The 41-year-old man appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Friday.

Sgt David Ferguson said: "Many of these cultivations are highly dangerous in terms of the use of electricity within the premises.

"The majority of the cultivations detected this year came about as a result of the awareness of members of the public, who have reported suspicious comings and goings or smells emitting from the premises.

"I would encourage the public to remain vigilant and if they see anything suspicious to report it to police or anonymously through Crimestoppers."
