An Aberdeen councillor fined for loitering in the red light district has been suspended by his party.

Bridge of Don representative Gordon Leslie was fined £200 in May.

He stood down as the Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for the Aberdeen Donside constituency in February, when charges emerged.

Group leader John Stewart said Mr Leslie had confirmed he had held talks with the independent group on the city council.

He said: "I am extremely disappointed by his actions.

"Earlier this year his colleagues moved to offer him support at an incredibly difficult personal period, but he has shown a total disregard for that support."
