Man admits friend's death crash in Aberdeenshire
A man has admitted causing the death of his friend by careless driving in Aberdeenshire.
Kristofer Barr, 24, was injured after the crash on the B993 Kemnay to Monymusk road, but passenger Ian Buchanan died.
Mr Buchanan lost his life just two days before his 23rd birthday in June last year.
Barr admitted causing death by careless driving at Aberdeen Sheriff Court. Sentence was deferred for reports.
Mr Buchanan, from Aberdeen, was the front seat passenger in the black Honda Civic when it was involved in a collision with a blue Volkswagen Golf.
Barr, also of Aberdeen, and Mr Buchanan, were said to have been friends since attending Alford Academy together.
In June this year, Mr Buchanan's mother June Ross launched a support group for relatives and friends of road crash victims in the north east of Scotland.
Mrs Ross, and Kathleen Duncan, who was widowed in 1998, co-founded 'Don't You Forget About Me'.
The group was launched on what would have been Mr Buchanan's 24th birthday.
The support group DYFAM is named after the Simple Minds track which was one of the favourite songs of her son.
