Man, 35, suffers bad head injuries in Kirkwall attack

A man suffered serious head injuries after being attacked in Kirkwall.

The attack happened in the area of the Orkney town's Great Western Road and the bus station in the early hours of Sunday.

The 35-year-old victim was transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with "significant head injuries".

A Northern Constabulary spokesman appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time or may have witnessed the incident to contact the force.
