Man, 23, reported for serious Kirkwall attack

A 23-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal after another man suffered serious head injuries in an attack in Kirkwall.

The incident happened in the area of the Orkney town's Great Western Road and the bus station in the early hours of Sunday.

The 35-year-old victim was transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with "significant head injuries".

Northern Constabulary thanked the public after an appeal for witnesses.
