The death of a teenage girl who was accidentally shot by her boyfriend will not be the subject of a fatal accident inquiry, BBC Scotland has learned.

Sophie Taylor, 16, was accidentally shot by Calum Murray, 18, at a cottage near Tomintoul, Moray, on 12 April.

Her boyfriend, a trainee gamekeeper, then turned the gun on himself.

The Crown Office said after "full and careful consideration" it was decided that no further action was appropriate and the case was now closed.

The death certificates previously revealed Sophie suffered a shotgun injury to the chest, and Mr Murray a shotgun injury to the head.

The deaths were recorded as having happened within about a minute of each other.

Hundreds of people attended the funeral services for the two teenagers.
