Councillors back Inchmarlo golf and hotel plan

An Aberdeenshire golf, hotel and housing development has been backed by councillors.

The five-star leisure spa hotel, new sports facilities and 80 houses, at Inchmarlo near Banchory, were recommended for approval.

Critics said it could have a detrimental impact on the environment and wildlife. Supporters argued leisure facilities and homes were needed.

The vote came less than a year after previous plans were thrown out.

Councillors voted 30 to 23 in favour after a lengthy debate.
