Moray and Shetland schools set to avoid strike closure

Some schools in Moray and Shetland are expected to remain open if UK-wide industrial action goes ahead next week, it has been announced.

The councils have predicted that most schools will be shut on 30 November.

However it is thought the Moray primaries at Glenlivet, Inveravon, Logie, Rothiemay and Tomintoul will remain open.

In Shetland, Uyeasound, Skerries, Foula, Burravoe and Fair Isle schools are also expected to stay open.

More than two million workers across the UK are due to walk out on 30 November, disrupting schools, councils and hospitals.

The Scottish Secondary Teachers' Association has predicted that at least 99% of Scotland's schools will be closed.

Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire councils have said that all schools in their areas will shut.
