Man dead following crash on A941 in Speyside

A 56-year-old man has died following a road crash in Speyside.

The one-vehicle crash happened on the A941 Dufftown to Craigellachie road at Buchromb at about 11:30 on Wednesday.

Grampian Police said two people had been taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin. The driver, a local man, died from his injuries and a 20-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

A force spokeswoman said the road was closed for several hours. Police have appealed for witnesses.

Vehicle sightings

The silver Chevrolet Kalos had left the road and struck a tree.

Insp Scott Mann said: "Sadly a man has died as a result of this collision.

"His immediate family are aware and my thoughts are with them at this sad time. We're working to establish the cause of the collision.

"We'd like to speak with anyone who witnessed the collision, or its immediate aftermath, or indeed anyone who saw a silver Chevrolet Kalos being driven in the Dufftown area."
