Plans for a £62m development of more than 300 new homes on the outskirts of Inverurie have been lodged.

Taylor Wimpey wants to build 335 homes of many types in the Souterford area, off the B9170.

The company said it was trying to tackle Inverurie's "chronic lack" of affordable housing.

Paul Hughes, of Taylor Wimpey, said: "What we are presenting is a blueprint for sustainable growth that respects Inverurie's market town character."

Aberdeenshire councillors will decide on the application in due course.
