Police investigating a sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl in Aberdeen have issued a fresh appeal for information.

The girl - who was wearing a blue hooded jacket and blue jeans - was attacked at about 22:00 on Monday in the Torry Battery area.

Grampian Police said the suspect was described as between 35 and 45, just over 5ft tall, muscular, with brown hair balding on top.

The force wants information on a silver five-door people carrier-type vehicle.

Det Insp Cammy Preston, the officer leading the enquiry, said of the man: "We are obviously keen to trace him and his vehicle.

"We would also appeal for anyone who may have seen the victim in the area around the time of the incident.

"I would like to reiterate that such incidents in Aberdeen are rare, however, as always, we would like to remind the public to be mindful of their personal safety."
