Masked Aberdeen shop raider Ryan Coutts jailed

A robber who targeted an Aberdeen newsagents in a masked raid has been jailed.

Ryan Coutts, 23, and an accomplice threatened to stab a shop assistant at Midstocket Stores in May last year.

Coutts admitted his role in the robbery, carried out for cigarettes and money, after being filmed by security cameras at the shop.

Lord Tyre jailed Coutts for four years and four months at the High Court in Edinburgh for his "deplorable" record.

The court heard Coutts had been threatened over a drug debt when he took part in the robbery.

Lord Tyre made an order which will keep Coutts under supervision for two years after the end of his sentence.
