Security checks and arrest over Sullom Voe oil 'threats'

Security checks were tightened at Shetland's Sullom Voe oil terminal and an arrest was made after alleged threats, police have said.

Firearms officers were sent to an address near Lerwick and a man was "safely negotiated" out at about 14:00.

Northern Constabulary said that, in a move connected with the alleged threats, security checks were tightened at Sullom Voe, and staff briefed.

A 49-year-old man will be reported to the procurator fiscal.
