Struck off teacher Douglas Tredinnick loses 'chisel hit' ruling

A teacher struck off for hitting a pupil with a chisel in a classroom has failed to overturn the ruling.

Douglas Tredinnick worked as a technology teacher at Aberdeen's St Machar Academy when he hit the child on the hand in September 2008.

The 66-year-old took his case to the Court of Session in Edinburgh after the General Teaching Council for Scotland struck him off.

Lord Gill rejected the appeal and said the court would issue reasons later.
