Two women killed in road crash in Kirkwall on Orkney named

Two women who died in a road crash in Orkney have been named.

Ann Stanger, 64, and 65-year-old Moira Towers - both from Stromness - were among three casualties cut from three cars in Kirkwall's Sunnybank Road at about 21:45 on Sunday.

They were declared dead at the scene. The other casualty - a 25-year-old man - was seriously injured and taken to the town's Balfour Hospital.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The road was closed for much of Monday.
