'Bridal train' as carriage wedding planned on restored line

A wedding is to be held in a railway carriage at the newly-restored Royal Deeside Railway at Crathes for the first time.

Aberdeen couple Mike Smith and Tina Scott will tie the knot in the guard's area of one of the coaches on Friday 24 August, followed by a train ride.

Bridal parties have been on the railway before, but it has never staged a wedding ceremony.

The carriage will specially decorated for the event.

The original Deeside Railway opened in 1853 and was regularly patronised by the Royal Family and other visitors to Balmoral before it closed in 1966.

Work on restoring part of the line began almost 10 years ago.
