A90 crash near Stonehaven leaves motorist trapped
A motorist was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being cut free from a crashed car.
The man, who is thought to be in his late 20s or early 30s, was rescued by firefighters after being trapped in a black Audi A1 Sport vehicle.
The car crashed on the A90 near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire at about 17:10.
Grampian Police said his injuries were "potentially life-threatening", but medical staff have not confirmed this.
The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and a doctor before being taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The Audi is said to have come to a rest in the central reservation of the road and police believe it may have collided with a blue tractor and trailer.
The man was the sole occupant of the car and no one else was injured.
Police said the road was closed in both directions with diversions in place via the A92.
The northbound carriageway may be closed for "a considerable period" after the crash, the force said.
