The Happy Mondays have cancelled a sell-out gig - their only Scottish date - in Shetland's Mareel arts centre.

The band, who were at the forefront of the so-called Madchester scene, formed in 1980 with Shaun Ryder as their frontman, and dancer Mark "Bez" Berry.

The original seven-strong line-up were to play next month.

The reason given for the postponement is that one of the band members needs to have an operation. It is hoped the band could reschedule for next year.
