First Aberdeen bus pay dispute: Weekend bus strike 'suspended'

A planned strike by First Aberdeen bus drivers on Saturday has been suspended, after "productive" talks.

First Aberdeen staff, including drivers and cleaners, voted in favour of strike action earlier this month.

The Unite union had said members could take part in action at various stages between 04:00 on 15 December and 05:00 on Tuesday 1 January.

Management and union leaders will meet again to hold further discussions on Wednesday.

The threat of action in the run-up to Christmas remains until the dispute is resolved.

In a joint statement, First Aberdeen and Unite said: "Productive talks were held today between First Aberdeen management and Unite the Union representatives.

"Further discussions will continue tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

"In the meantime, Unite the Union confirmed that Saturday's planned industrial action will not take place."
