Campaign planned against Braemar footbridge

A foot and cycle bridge over the River Dee at Braemar is not needed, it has been claimed.

The crossing would link Braemar directly with tracks to the Cairngorms, and it is hoped it would be a boost for the local community.

However, countryside blogger Joe Dorward is planning to campaign against the crossing.

He said: "It is self-evident that the proposed footbridge is unnecessary for access and it is a commercial venture."

A design proposal has been prepared by London and Aberdeenshire-based Moxon Architects.

The project is led by Braemar Community Ltd.
