A man who sexually abused a young girl and assaulted a woman has been jailed for nine years.
James Ross, 54, of North Water Bridge, near Laurencekirk, carried out the offences in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and England over a period of many years.
Ross was convicted last month, and has now been jailed at the High Court in Edinburgh.
Temporary judge John Beckett QC said: "The public must be protected from you."
Defence QC Mark Stewart told the court that Ross had now accepted his guilt and was resigned to receiving a lengthy jail sentence.
Judge Beckett said the abuse had shaped many aspects of the lives of his victims.
