Metropolitan Police being sued over Ballater crash

An Aberdeen man injured when his motorbike was in collision with a minibus driven by a Royal protection officer is to sue the Metropolitan Police.

David Hardie was badly injured in the crash at Ballater in 2011 and also claims he has suffered psychologically since too.

The case has been lodged at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.

The Met said it had received a claim but declined to comment further.

Officers from London's Metropolitan Police share, with Grampian Police, the protection of members of the Royal family staying on the Balmoral Estate.
