Union wants Sport Aberdeen charitable trust scrapped

A union has called for the Sport Aberdeen charitable trust, which runs swimming pools and leisure centres in the city, to be scrapped.

The GMB union is angry at Sport Aberdeen's handling of a dispute with staff over terms and conditions.

It wants the city council to take back the running of facilities and employment of the staff.

The GMB organiser in Aberdeen, Janet Adams, has written to the council's chief executive and leader.

Chief executive Valerie Watts and council leader Barney Crockett said they would respond to the GMB's letter in due course.

No-one from Sport Aberdeen was contactable for comment.
