Seriously ill pensioner airlifted from cruise ship off Shetland

A seriously ill pensioner has been airlifted to hospital from a cruise ship off the coast of Shetland.

The 76-year-old man was taken off the "Discovery" ship by a coastguard helicopter from Sumburgh then taken by ambulance to Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick.

The helicopter was scrambled at about 02:20.

The ship, which was 90 miles off the coast at the time, is operated by Voyages of Discovery.
