Firefighters tackle major blaze at Turriff farm

More than 40 firefighters have tackled a major blaze near Turriff in Aberdeenshire.

The alarm was raised about 18:30 on Sunday after the fire was discovered in a range of farm buildings at Fortrie.

Officers from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service used five pumps and five special appliances to extinguish the blaze.

The cause of the fire is not yet known but a joint investigation is under way by the fire and police services.

Police Scotland said the B9025 road was closed for a short time on Sunday night because of smoke obscuring the carriageway.
