Man dies after river fall at Randolph's Leap in Moray

A man has died after falling into the River Findhorn in Moray.

Police Scotland said the 39-year-old man was taken to hospital after the incident at Randolph's Leap, near Forres, at about 16:30 on Monday.

Coastguard teams, an RAF helicopter, police and the fire and rescue service were all involved in the rescue operation.

The man was flown by air ambulance to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, but he later died.

It is understood the man was walking with a female companion when he fell into the river at the popular beauty spot.

The River Findhorn squeezes through the craggy gorge at Randolph's Leap, and the white water rapids there are popular with kayakers.

Police Scotland said inquiries were ongoing, but that the death was not being treated as suspicious.
