A man has been detained on suspicion of wasting police time after armed officers and specialist negotiators were called out in Aberdeen.

Streets surrounding Heathryfold Circle were cordoned off after a call was received at 11:25.

A search of the property was eventually carried out about four-and-half hours later but was found to be empty.

A 29-year-old man was taken into police custody.

Ch Insp Nick Topping said: "This dynamic situation is one that our specialist officers are trained for and we are pleased that it has now been resolved.

"I would like to thank members of the public for their patience in dealing with the inconvenience and disruption that this incident caused."
