CCTV images of two men police want to trace in connection with a violent assault in Aberdeen city centre have been released.

A 21-year-old man suffered serious injuries in the incident outside Burger King on Union Street shortly after 03:00 on Saturday 20 October last year.

A 24-year-old man was also assaulted.

Police said both men they wanted to trace were large, with dark hair. One wore a black jumper and dark trousers, the other was dressed in grey.

Pc Rob McLean said: "This was a violent attack that has resulted in very serious injuries for one of the victims.

"Anyone with information that can help us locate those responsible for this incident is asked to contact police immediately."

He added: "Assaults of this nature can have a significant impact, not only on the lives of the victims but also on their families and on the reputation of the city."
