Detectives probing an armed robbery on a security van in Aberdeen say they have received a number of calls from witnesses.

A man threatened a security guard with what was thought to be a metal bar at Makro in Altens at about 12:30 on Monday.

He made off with a five-figure sum of money.

A 4x4 vehicle, similar to one seen leaving the scene, was found in the Cults area after being set on fire.

A dark grey Audi Q5 - which had a copied registration of SW12 CVF - was seen driving erratically at speed from the scene towards the Charleston Flyover at about 12:45.

The incident involved a G4S van. No-one was injured but the victim was left shaken.

The suspect was described as being in his mid 20s, about 6ft tall, of "athletic" build, with stubble.

He was wearing dark clothing and spoke with a local accent.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
