Shetland's Olnafirth primary school to close

One of the smaller primary schools in Shetland is to close.

Scottish ministers have not objected to the planned closure of Olnafirth School in the village of Voe.

This means the eight pupils will be transferred to the nearby Brae School after the summer holidays next year.

The chairman of the parent council, David McDowall, expressed disappointment, but accepted there was now no alternative to the closure.
