Man dies after being hit by vehicle

A male pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in Aberdeenshire, police have said.

The incident happened on the A90 Fraserburgh to Peterhead Road at Lonmay in Aberdeenshire at about 20:00 on New Year's Day.

Police Scotland appealed for information from witnesses who may have seen someone walking in the area around the time of the collision.

The man died at the scene of the crash.

The road was closed while investigations were carried out, but has since reopened.
