Delays warning over four-month Mugiemoss Road closure in Aberdeen
A section of a busy Aberdeen road is to be closed for up to four months, prompting a warning of traffic delays.
Part of Mugiemoss Road will close from 16 March for what Aberdeen City Council described as essential work for a new Barratt Homes development.
Delays on roads including Auchmill Road, the Parkway, Scotstown Road and the Haudagain roundabout are likely.
A council spokesperson said: "The decision to close the road has not been taken lightly."
The council explained: "The road must be closed for safety reasons while that work is carried out."
The period of expected closure has been reduced from the originally requested six months to four.
A Barratt Homes spokesperson said the project was the first stage of essential works to redevelop the brownfield site at the former Davidson Paper Mill.
"A total of 288 new homes will be built including much needed affordable housing for the city," the spokesperson added.
"We have worked very closely with Aberdeen City Council to find the best traffic management solution and keep disruption to a minimum.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused but we are confident that this redevelopment activity will bring favourable longer-term benefits for the city of Aberdeen."
