Appeal to dog owners after six Portlethen sheep killed

Police have urged dog owners to ensure their pets are under control after several sheep were killed in the Portlethen area.

A total of six sheep have died in recent weeks.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Stress caused by uncontrolled dogs can cause ewes to abort and farmers are legally entitled to shoot dogs that are worrying their sheep."

Owners can be reported to the procurator fiscal and dogs destroyed.
