A full-scale emergency was declared at Orkney's Kirkwall Airport as an incoming plane reported an icing problem.

The Loganair Saab 340 with 25 passengers on board had been on its way from Aberdeen to Shetland.

It was diverted to Kirkwall while police, fire and ambulance crews were alerted. The Kirkwall lifeboat was also launched.

The plane landed safely and a replacement was sent out.

A Loganair engineering team was carrying out a full inspection of the aircraft.
