Man in court after heroin seized in Ellon

A 32-year-old man has appeared in court after drugs with an estimated street value of £140,000 were recovered in Aberdeenshire.

Police said heroin was seized at an address in Ellon on Friday.

Warren Kennelly, from Ellon, made no plea or declaration when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

A second man, aged 31, who was detained in connection with the drugs, has been released pending further inquiries.

Mr Kennelly was remanded in custody and the case was continued for further examination.

A Crown Office spokesman said: "The procurator fiscal at Aberdeen also received a report concerning a 31-year-old male.

"Following full and careful consideration, the accused was liberated from custody pending further inquiries and did not appear in court."
