An air and sea search around the western coastline of Orkney for missing man Michael Ritch has been called off.

Mr Ritch, 33, was last seen on Wednesday evening and his red Skoda Fabia car was found near cliffs at Yesnaby on Thursday.

He is described as about 5ft 8in tall, of slim build with short dark hair.

He was last seen wearing a dark blue jacket over a dark blue polo shirt, blue denim jeans, brown shoes and a blue beanie style hat.

The coastguard search and rescue helicopter, along with both the Stromness and Kirkwall lifeboats, were called out on Thursday afternoon and resumed the search on Friday.

Two shore-based teams have also been searching the surrounding area.

Anyone with information which could help the search is being asked to contact Police Scotland.
