Orkney councillor Jack Moodie resigns his seat

An Orkney councillor has resigned his seat on the authority.

Independent Jack Moodie - who represents Kirkwall West and Orphir - said the job of a councillor had become bogged down with red tape.

Mr Moodie said he felt he was achieving very little for his constituents.

Orkney Islands Council said a date for a by-election for the ward would be announced soon.
