Drug dealers 'could be evicted' from Aberdeen council homes

Drug dealers in Aberdeen could face eviction from their homes under new council policy.

Councillors will meet next week to discuss plans to use additional powers to remove people from properties if they are convicted of using the house for "immoral or illegal" purposes.

Police records show that 50 council houses were subject to at least one drug search resulting in criminal charges in 2013.

None of these resulted in an eviction.

The authority said the new policy would allow them to use new legislation to deal with drug dealers more proactively.
