Call for new Aberdeen council post recruitment freeze

The recruitment of a new head of communication and promotion at Aberdeen City Council should be frozen, a councillor has claimed.

Takki Sulaiman is moving from Tower Hamlets Council in London to take up the newly-created £80,000-a-year post.

Lib Dem Ian Yuill called for a freeze until a probe is carried out amid claims it was not known Mr Sulaiman had served as a Labour councillor.

Council deputy leader Marie Boulton, an independent, said it was above board.

Aberdeen City Council has a Labour-led administration.
