Fraud claim by Asset Assured of Banchory sparks criminal probe

A criminal probe has been launched on behalf of Banchory-based business partnership Asset Assured.

Police Scotland said a complaint of fraud was being investigated.

A police spokesman said: "A criminal investigation has been launched and inquiries are at an early stage."

Calum Moir, a partner in Asset Assured, said: "We suspected a fraud had been committed against our company by a third party, and we reported this to the police."

A police spokesperson added: "Anyone who thinks they may be been a victim of economic crime is asked to contact Police Scotland."
