Philip Bremner, 71, named as man who died in A90 crash

A 71-year-old man who died following a crash on the A90 road between Lonmay and Fraserburgh in Aberdeenshire has been named.

Philip Bremner, of Mintlaw, was driving a silver Volkswagen Jetta when it was involved in a crash with a black Nissan Qashqai at about 15:15 on Thursday.

The 28-year-old male driver of the Qashqai escaped with "relatively minor injuries".

Police Scotland have appealed for witnesses.

Sgt Neil Morrison said: "Losing a loved one in such a traumatic way is extremely harrowing and our thoughts are with Mr Bremner's family at this difficult time.

"Enquiries are at a very early stage and I am extremely grateful to those motorists who stopped at the scene and offered assistance prior to the arrival of the emergency services.

"I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision and who has not yet come forward to do so as soon as possible."
