The new leader of Moray Council has been confirmed as Stewart Cree, who takes over from Allan Wright after he resigned over a schools vote.

Mr Cree will step down from his position as convener of the authority, and the new convener will be Mr Wright.

Mr Wright announced earlier this month he was stepping aside after councillors agreed a five-year moratorium on the closure of schools.

The new positions will take effect on 1 January.
