Mintlaw crash leaves teenager dead

A teenager has been killed after the car he was a passenger in left the road and crashed into a tree.

The 19-year-old man died at the scene of the crash in Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire.

Four other teenagers - a 17-year-old male who was driving the red Ford Fiesta car, an 18-year-old male and two 17-year-old female passengers - were all injured.

They were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police Scotland appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident, which happened on Station Road at 20:50 on Saturday, or who saw the car being driven before that, to contact them.
