Police officer Allan Masson fined for careless driving

A police officer has been fined £500 after being found guilty of careless driving following a crash which left a pedestrian injured.

Allan Masson, 43, crashed his police car in icy conditions on the Inverurie to Chapel of Garioch road in Aberdeenshire in March 2013.

He was initially charged with dangerous driving, but was later found guilty of the lesser charge of careless driving.

Joseph Leghorn, 69, suffered leg injuries in the incident.

Masson also had three penalty points added to his driving licence at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
