Shetland ferry strike called off after Cosla talks

A planned ferry strike in Shetland on Wednesday has been called off after talks.

The six-hour stoppage was suspended after Shetland Islands Council and the Unite union agreed to appoint an independent assessor to review a job evaluation scheme.

The talks, organised by local government organisation Cosla, were held in Edinburgh on Tuesday morning.

The council said it was hopeful the dispute could be settled soon.
