Two more oil and gas companies are set to make scores of job losses amid the industry "downturn".

Petrofac said consultations with workers were ongoing both on and offshore.

And Amec Foster Wheeler said it was consulting on about 100 onshore posts in Aberdeen.

It comes after Wood Group PSN said on Monday it was expected to make about 80 redundancies after it launched a consultation with about 380 staff,

A Petrofac spokeswoman said: "Consultations are ongoing both on and offshore. In each case we will make every effort to manage the impact on our staff, including looking to deploy personnel elsewhere where possible."

An Amec Foster Wheeler statement said: "We have started a consultation process with our Aberdeen-based employees about the impact on jobs of the downturn of the oil and gas market.

"The consultation process includes looking at mitigating the impact through a variety of measures, including other cost savings, and moving people to the company's other diversified operations.

"Currently we are in consultation with 149 individuals about 64 potentially affected roles."
