Husky run man banned from owning dog for 10 years

A man who made his pet husky run in hot weather until it collapsed unconscious has been banned from owning a dog for 10 years.

Jason McKay, 27, of Inverurie, cycled along the B9170 road in Aberdeenshire with his dog on a lead in July last year.

The dog was left with injured, bleeding paws.

McKay admitted causing his pet unnecessary suffering at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

He was ordered to carry out 50 hours of unpaid work.

Sheriff William Taylor described McKay's actions as "disgraceful behaviour" towards a dog and told him he should be "thoroughly ashamed" of himself.
