Nine on trial on North Sea ship drug charges
Nine men have gone on trial accused of carrying out an international drug smuggling operation on a boat which was stopped in the North Sea.
They are accused of sailing in the Hamal from Istanbul to Tenerife via Guyana, then to the North Sea, while concealing cocaine in 2015.
The trial at the High Court in Glasgow started on Wednesday.
The court heard the National Crime Agency and UK Border Force boarded the Hamal about 100 miles east of Aberdeen.
The trial, before judge Lord Kinclaven, is expected to last about three months.
