A 12-year-old boy is in a serious condition in hospital after a collision involving a motorbike and a car towing a caravan.

The boy was a pillion passenger on the bike being ridden by his father when it crashed on the A96 east of Forres in Moray at 11:55.

The 51-year-old father's condition is not thought to be as serious.

The road has been closed while police investigations continue and local diversions are in place.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The 12-year-old boy sustained serious injuries and the 51-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

"The A96 is currently closed whilst investigations take place at the scene."

Both casualties were taken to Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin for treatment.
