Fire crews tackle blaze at Britannia Hotel in Bucksburn

Firefighters tackled a major fire which tore through a hotel in Aberdeen.

The emergency services were called out to the Britannia Hotel in Bucksburn at about 16:45 on Thursday.

Nine appliances and as many as 90 firefighters were called to the scene, as well as a height vehicle.

Crews using jets and breathing apparatus tackled the flames, which badly damaged the building. It was dampened down overnight, police said they were not aware of any casualties.

A joint investigation will be carried out.
